Classroom Expectations and Consequences
I know this year will consist of a fine group of leaders and I look forward to many great learning achievements because behavior is 100% in our classroom. Second grade is using the management system called Dojo. You should have received an invitation letter in your Tuesday folder about how to access our classroom Dojo. Dojo is a point system that keeps track of your child’s daily behaviors. You may check each day to see how your child did during class. Students will earn percentages at the end of the week and will have the opportunity to participate in Fun Friday activities if the total week percentage has been met. Second grade has agreed to start the percent at 86% and it will increase as the year progresses. Dojo will track individual behavior and skills such as ‘on task’, ‘completing work’,’working with others’, etc…: As a class we will be referring to our general classroom rules each day:
If any of our classroom rules are not followed by individual students you will see points taken away from Dojo and it will state the reason. If you begin to see a pattern of negative Dojo points I may contact you for support in helping achieve positive change in your child’s behavior at school. I want learning to be challenging, engaging, and fun so working out a plan to make learning fair to all should be a common goal. Other consequences can be used throughout the year such as, silent lunch or missing free time earned by whole class Dojo. I appreciate support from home by discussing with your child what happened and how it could have been handled differently. At times if serious concerns happen throughout the year, such as:
I encourage you to discuss these procedures with your 2nd grader and communicating your feelings about expected behavior in school. I thank you in advance for supporting our classroom procedures this year by working together as a team. It helps us all move ahead safely and smoothly. I will work hard to achieve fairness to all my students in this process as well!
